Barbara Zwerner, PT
Barbara Zwerner received her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy degree in 2001 from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Since then, as she followed her husband around the country for his schooling, training, and employment, she had the good fortune to accumulate 10+ years of physical therapy practice across 3 different states: Alabama, California and Tennessee. While the majority of her employment experience is in outpatient orthopedics, she has also worked in acute care, pediatrics, and pain management settings.
Her approach to physical therapy is heavily grounded in manual therapy in addition to an appropriate exercise regime. Subsequently, most of her post-graduate education has focused on learning and refining osteopathic and Maitland-based manual therapy techniques. Additionally, during 2008-2009 she had the incredible opportunity to train and receive her full Balanced Body Pilates certification under the direction of Elizabeth Larkam, an internationally recognized Pilates innovator and one of the first people to bring Pilates into a healthcare setting.
Happily settled in Nashville for the long-term, Barbara is thankful to be able to work in an environment that values patient care first. When not at the clinic, she is usually found chasing after her three young boys, or getting exercise otherwise in a game of ultimate frisbee, on a bike, or out on a solo run.
